MEHOP is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC) providing healthcare services to Matagorda County and surrounding areas. MEHOP accepts all patients regardless of whether they are insured or uninsured.

For those without insurance, MEHOP offers a sliding fee scale, which provides discounted fees for services. To be eligible for our sliding fee scale, qualifications must be met which are based on household income. New patients, without insurance coverage, will first meet with our Eligibility Department for completion of their household assessment in order to determine which sliding fee scale they may be eligible for. During our eligibility process, household income levels are also reviewed to see if the person or family applying may be eligible for additional assistance through our partnerships or additional programs.

If a patient has Medicare or Medicaid (including Star, Star Plus or CHIPS), they may still qualify for our sliding fee scale. This would allow the patient to receive discounted fees for services received that may not be covered by insurance. Patients may also be eligible to receive additional savings through our discount prescription programs.
